Medical Review Policy

How our articles are written, checked and kept accurate

The articles on our blog cover hair loss, its causes and the treatments for it. That is health information, and people make real decisions based on it, so it has to be correct. This page explains how our articles are written, who checks them, which sources we use and what to do if you find a mistake.

The policy covers the articles on our blog and the medical information on our treatment pages, in every language we publish in.

Who Writes Our Articles

Most of our English articles are written by Mehmet Yıldırım, our medical writer. He holds a PhD in Health Management and Economics from Hacettepe University and has worked as a health policy analyst and medical writer since 2020. His job is to research each topic and explain it in plain language. He does not diagnose or treat patients, which is why every article he writes goes to one of our doctors before it is published.

The writer's name appears at the top of each article as "Written by".

Who Reviews Them

Every article is reviewed by one of the doctors at Hermest Hair Clinic before it goes live:

  • Dr. Ahmet Murat, MD, our Medical Director and cardiologist. He graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine and holds the Turkish Ministry of Health's Hair Transplant Practitioner Certificate.
  • Dr. Nesim Tugen, our Co-Director of Hair Restoration and Executive Clinical Lead. He graduated from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Faculty of Medicine and also holds the Ministry's Hair Transplant Practitioner Certificate.

The name of the doctor who reviewed an article is shown at the top of it as "Reviewed by" and links to the doctor's profile, where you can see their education, experience and certificates.

How an Article Is Checked Before It Is Published

Every article goes through the same five steps:

  1. Draft. The writer researches the topic and writes the article.
  2. Source check. Each medical statement in the draft is checked against the source it comes from. If a statement cannot be backed up, it is rewritten or removed.
  3. Doctor review. One of our doctors reads the full article and checks three things: that the medical information is accurate, that nothing in it could put a reader's health at risk, and that what it says about our treatments matches what we actually do at Hermest.
  4. Approval. The article is published only after the doctor has approved it. If the doctor asks for changes, they are made first.
  5. Publishing. The article goes live with its publication date shown at the top.

How We Choose Our Sources

When an article makes a medical statement, we want you to be able to check it yourself. These are the sources we rely on, in this order:

  • Peer-reviewed research published in medical journals, which we find through databases such as PubMed
  • Medical reference works written for doctors, such as StatPearls
  • Professional medical organisations, such as the American Academy of Dermatology and the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery
  • Official health authorities, such as the Turkish Ministry of Health

When we refer to a study or an organisation, we link to it so you can read the original. We do not write that "studies show" something unless we can point to the study.

When an Article Is Reviewed Again

An article is checked again whenever its information changes. If we add new information to an article or change what it says about a condition, a treatment or our clinic, the changed article goes through the source check and the doctor review again before the new version is published.

Our Articles in Other Languages

We publish articles in English, German, French, Italian and Turkish. The English version is reviewed by our doctors first. The other language versions are written by native-speaking writers and then checked by native-speaking members of our medical team, so the medical content stays the same and reads naturally in your language.

How We Use AI Tools

We use AI tools to support our research, for example to find and organise relevant studies. The articles themselves are fully human written by our writers, and every statement, source and medical detail is checked by people, as described above, before anything is published.

What We Do Not Promise

Every person's hair loss and every treatment result is different. That is why our articles do not guarantee results, do not promise success rates and do not describe any treatment as risk-free. When we describe our own treatments, we describe what we do, not what you are certain to get.

Our Doctors Work at Hermest

The doctors who review our articles work at Hermest Hair Clinic, and some of our articles describe the treatments we offer. We want you to know that when you read them. It is also one of the reasons we link to outside sources: so you can compare what we write with independent information.

Our Articles Are Not Medical Advice

Our articles are for general information. They cannot replace an examination or a conversation with a doctor who knows your medical history. If you are thinking about treatment, or if you are worried about your hair or your health, please speak to a doctor. You can also request a free hair analysis from our team.

Found a Mistake? Tell Us

If you think something in one of our articles is wrong or out of date, please email us at info@hermest.com.tr and tell us which article and which part you mean.

  • Urgent errors, meaning anything that could affect a reader's health or safety, are corrected within 1 working day.
  • All other errors are corrected within 5 working days.

Corrected medical information goes through our doctor review again before the new version is published.
