Why is follow-up important in hair transplant? Hello, I am Dr. Nesim from Hermest Clinic. Today I will talk about the importance of patient follow-up.

Our patient came to us with a complaint of thinning in the frontal area. We plan to densify the frontal area and change the sparse look that was bothering our patient.

Our patient’s donor area was quite sufficient. About 4,100 grafts were taken and we performed the transplant with Sapphire FUE.

From the 10th day onwards, we started to see our patient’s scabs falling off. In the donor area, the healing process has begun. The hair in the follicles we left behind also started to grow. The 10th day is a very critical period. Since hair grows at different speeds, we explained every possibility the patient might expect during this period.

From the 10th day, we stayed in touch through the first, second and third months, discussing all expectations and possibilities. This photo is from our patient’s third month. We can see revitalization and the hair starting to settle in the transplant area.

From the third month onwards, healing in the donor area now appears to be complete. At 6 months, the growing hair and the settling hairline are now quite prominent. We can also see the healing in the donor area from here.

At the end of the first year, in the 12th month, we see the effect of the transplant. Close follow-up is vital for us to manage donor area anxiety and transplant expectations for a smooth process.

Patient Safety at Hermest

Since joining Hermest in 2021, Dr. Nesim Tugen has taken part in more than 7,500 hair transplant operations, working with our medical team, and he handles the consultation and treatment planning as well.

Every step below is part of our All-In Safety Protocol™.

Before the operation: Every patient has pre-operative tests, including allergy and anaesthesia checks, blood tests and a cardiac check-up with Dr. Ahmet Murat, who is a cardiologist. The operation goes ahead only when the results show the patient is ready.

During the operation: Heart rate and oxygen level are tracked continuously and blood pressure is checked at regular intervals. Each operation is led by our doctors with a trained medical team, and Dr. Ahmet Murat is in the clinic throughout.

If a reaction occurs: Our doctors respond straight away. Dr. Ahmet Murat is a cardiology specialist and Dr. Nesim Tugen has worked as an emergency medicine physician. If hospital care is needed, the patient is taken by ambulance to one of the Florence Nightingale hospitals, with which we have a contract.

After the operation: Before leaving the clinic, every patient is checked again, including the treated area and all vital signs. Patients leave only when the doctor is sure they are well.

Emergency equipment in the clinic: defibrillator, oxygen supply, patient monitors and an emergency drug kit.
